How We Work

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

In a nutshell: All of our early experiences impact our inner worlds in ways that are sometimes outside of our awareness.

Anxiety, depression, and feelings that have become difficult to manage are often signs of internal conflicts that exist below the surface, holding us back from feeling happiness or reaching a fuller potential. By creating space for honesty and connection with your therapist, deeper understanding of these early sources of conflict may emerge. You and your therapist will work together to gain clarity and healing, which can result in increased emotional strength, personal growth, creativity, and a renewed sense of aliveness. While each of our therapists has their own unique background, training and specializations, all of our work incorporates perspectives from attachment, development, and neuroscience research, within a psychoanalytic framework.

Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis is a more rigorous form of treatment that goes deeper to understand and treat the unconscious sources of problems. More frequent sessions are required for psychoanalytic treatment to be effective, typically between 3-5 days a week for an extended period of time. Increased frequency helps create safety in the patient-analyst relationship, as well as deepen and intensify the work. This allows for patients to understand themselves better and experience healing from the “inside out.” Please call to inquire if you are interested in learning more.
